You must have Clinical User or Patient Viewer permissions to perform these tasks.

This help topic describes functionality that may not be part of the feature set in use at your company.

Add Prescription

The Add Prescription function saves the patient's therapy device prescription to Care Orchestrator This prescription is then available to be sent to an SD Card, or sent to a supported therapy device equipped with a modem or removable media. You can add prescriptions for all devices supported by Care Orchestrator, excluding Trilogy devices and the EverFlo Oxygen Concentrator. Only authorized Clinical Users can add prescriptions.

Note: Equipment, prescriptions, therapy data, and patient activity log entries will be displayed in Care Orchestrator for unsupported devices.

Note: Add Prescription is not available for Trilogy devices and EverFlo Oxygen Concentrators.

Note: Be sure to clear the memory of any previously used therapy devices, modems, or s, prior to reassigning them to other patients. Consult the documentation included with the therapy device or modem for instructions on clearing its memory. Refer to Clearing Removable Media to use the Data Card Utilities to clear therapy data and prescription information from an SD card.

Warning: Prescription changes should only be made on the order of a licensed physician. Creating or changing a prescription should only be completed by a trained medical professional. A patient’s prescription should be verified as correct before transferring it to the patient's therapy device.

Note: If the prescription update functionality is not available in Care Orchestrator, the provider can manually enter the prescription settings in the therapy device using the instructions for use for the device.

Note:  A patient's prescription can be updated based on therapy data received from removable media or DreamMapper if:

Note: Humidifiers are optional accessories. Humidifier settings sent to a therapy device are ignored if a humidifier is not available.

To add a device prescription:

  1. Click the Patients tab.
    The Patient search and a list of all patients displays.

  2. Select whether to search by the patient's Name, External ID, Patient reference or Device serial number.

Note:  Once the category to search by is selected, that option will remain the default search option for the remainder of the user's login.  It will return to the system-wide default upon the next login.

  1. When either the Search by Name, External ID or Patient reference are selected as the main search criteria, expanded search options are available.  Click the More options link located beneath the Search field.

The Date of birth, Postal code and Phone number search fields are displayed, which allows for more detailed searching.

  1. Enter the main search item in the upper Search field and, if desired, enter the expanded search information in the respective Search field, then click the Search button.

Based on entered information, relevant patients display.

Note:  When searching by Date of birth, the entered date cannot be in the future and must be in the correct date format as displayed beneath the field.

Note:  When searching by Postal code, the entry must be an exact match for the data entered into the Search field.

Note:  When searching by Phone number, only numeric text is allowed in the Search field and the entry must be an exact match for the entered data in order to be displayed in the Patients list.

Note:  The Search button is disabled until valid search criteria is entered into one or more of the additional search fields.

  1. Double-click the desired patient name to open the Patient window.

  1. With the selected patient displayed, click the Prescription tab.

  1. Click the assigned Device to enter the Prescription.

Note: A device must be assigned to the patient to add a Prescription. Click the Equipment tab to assign a device for the patient. Refer to Add and Assign Equipment for more information.

Note:  Italy ONLY - Private label device names appear in the pull-down and can be selected for Trilogy Evo and BiPAP A40 Pro if desired.

Prescription form displays.

  1. Choose the device Category.

Note: You can choose between a Sleep device and a Vent device. (In this example, Sleep device is used; the steps for Vent devices are very similar.)

  1. Click on Sleep and select mode from the Therapy Mode drop-down list.

Note: Issued On date is when the device was issued to the patient.

  1. Select a model from the Device Model (found on bottom of device) drop-down list. The Devices listed are applicable to the Mode chosen in the previous step.

Note: The Device Model information can be found on the bottom of the device.

  1. Select an attribute from the Mode Attribute drop-down list. The attributes listed are applicable to the Device chosen in the previous step.

Additional input settings relevant to the device appear.

  1. Complete the additional input fields displayed.
  2. Inspect and verify all therapy settings for the prescription.
  3. Click the Save button.

Note: prescriptions created in Care Orchestrator will display with a status of Saved.

  1. (Optional) Click the Send to Card button.

Note: Click the Send to Card button if you want to send the prescription to a data card. Use the prescription status to verify transfer of the prescription.

Note:  If you are using Windows 7, yellow highlighted text appears near the top of the window. The message indicates the date at which the Windows 7 operating system will no longer be supported. You will be able to initialize removable media, read media (download), and write prescriptions to the media with Windows 7 up until the stated end date. After that date, a warning will appear and you will be blocked from continuing the operation.

  1. (Optional) Click the Send to Modem button.

Note: Click the Send to Modem button if you want to send the prescription via a modem device. If you have a modem or Bluetooth-enabled device, the prescription transfers automatically to the device during the next established connection. Use the prescription status to verify transfer of the prescription.

Note: If an invalid prescription is entered for a patient's assigned equipment, the following message is displayed: This prescription does not match the assigned device.
